Victor C. Hood died after a brief illness on January 11, 2021 at his home in New Hampton, NH at the age of 76.

He is survived by his beloved wife Judy; sons Carlton of Wellesley and Jonathan of Los Angeles; first cousins Clark Boddy and wife Jane of San Antonio and Vernon Andrew of Alabama; and daughter-of-the-heart Esther Healer of London, England.

Victor was born on August 17, 1944 in Boston to Carlton P. and Mabel (née Boddy) Hood. He graduated from Needham High School and attended Boston University, after which he began a long and illustrious career at John Hancock Life Insurance Company, where he became the highest performing sales professional. His industry achievement was such that he reportedly earned as much as the colossal company's CEO. For over three decades, Victor was also the founding principal of Benefit Resources, Inc., a Needham-based consulting firm focused on pension and retirement planning.

He was a voracious reader and student of history. His principal passions were the Civil War, in which his grandfather fought, and the life and leadership of Winston Churchill. Victor was known to remark that a truly great day "on the other side" would involve a soak, a cigar, and a gab session with Sir Winston, whom Victor considered to be the most colorful and consequential of all 20th century leaders.

Victor also leaves behind friends and neighbors in New Hampshire, the locale of his beloved antique farmhouse; Needham, MA; Osterville, MA; and Naples, FL.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held with Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Church of the Redeemer, 379 Hammond Street, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467
