Surrounded by the endless love of his family, Gene passed away unexpectedly on January 29th at the age of 74. Born to Susan and Albert Wallace on November 25, 1944, Gene is survived by his loving wife Dolly, his beloved children, Whitney Guida (Dave), Ashley Baima (Alan) and Jason Wallace. Known as "Pa" to his six beautiful grandchildren, Jackson, Caroline, and Grace Guida, and Henry, Tatum, and Maddie Baima, Gene is also survived by his two sisters, Edith Wallis (Peter), and Debbie Essig (Rob) as well as his many fun loving nieces and nephews.

Gene was a graduate of Westtown School and the Boston University Graduate School of Management. He served as CFO of the Beth Israel Hospital for 27 years and was a part of the BIDMC merger. He went on to become the CFO of Harvard Vanguard, Signature Healthcare and Commonwealth Care. His hard work and dedication in his field left a lasting impact and he was well respected by all of his colleagues. In his retirement Gene volunteered his time serving on the Board of the Newton Weston Wellesley Committee for Community, Inc.

Gene will forever be remembered for his love of sailing at the Jersey Shore, cheering on the BU hockey team, being a voracious reader, making his famous soups at Christmastime, dressing as Santa at the annual Wallace Christmas party and for his outgoing personality, his gentle soul, his charm and humor, his humility and his peaceful ways.

A Meeting for Worship in Thanksgiving for the Grace of God, as shown in the life of Gene will take place Saturday, February 2 at 2PM in the Chapel at Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, 785 Centre St. Newton. Interment will be held privately. Friends and family are invited to visit with Gene's family on Friday evening from 4-7PM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to NWW Committee for Community Living, Inc. 14 Newtonville Avenue, Newtonville, MA 02458 and/or The Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N.Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472

Heartfelt Sympathies

As a longtime employee of HVMA I had the pleasure of working for Gene. Although not directly, I was on the the "front lines" of the Burlington site. He wrote weekly emails which I looked forward to reading. He spoke on many subjects; his family, vacations, sports and the list goes on. His words were humble, kind, humorous and inspiring. He didn't know me personally, but those emails spoke to me like being a part of his family. My prayers go out to his wife and familly. I will end as he always signed off BE WELL...Gene

Dolly, I did not know your husband but he must have been a wonderful, caring person just like his loving wife. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. Thinking of you, Beverly Hall
