Mr. Daniel M. Judge, of Newton, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at his home. He was 95.
Dan was born in Everett on February 1, 1918, a son of the late John and Teresa (McCarron) Judge, both natives of Ireland. He was raised in Everett and after graduating from Everett High went to work for a time with FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps. With the advent of World War II he joined the United States Army where he served as a staff sergeant and spent a year and a half in Europe before being discharged in February of 1946.
After the war Dan took technical training courses and went to work for the General Electric Company in Lynn where he spent his career developing and designing small jet engines. He was also the president of the union at G.E.’s River Works plant. He lived most of his life in Saugus and in Weston before moving to Newton five years ago.
The husband of the late Barbara M. (Dupray) Judge, he leaves his children, Nancy J. Connolly and her husband, Paul, of Weston and Joan M. Judge of Hudson; his grandchildren, Paul Connolly and his wife, Kerry, and Daniel Connolly and his wife, Kathryn; his great-grandchildren, Caroline and Edward Connolly; his sister, Grace Pike of Melrose and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was also the father of the late Peter D. Judge and a brother of the late John Judge, Ann McCarville, Marjorie Hueneke, Rose Toomey, Leo Judge and Joseph Judge.
Family and friends will gather to visit at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23rd in the Henry J. Burke Funeral Home, 56 Washington Street (Rte. 16), Wellesley Hills before leaving in procession to Saint John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Road, Wellesley Hills where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
