Obituary for Patricia Stadtmueller Wildman

Patricia Stadtmueller Wildman died peacefully at home on April 14, 2024 at the age of 74 after courageously facing cancer for four years. Born Patricia Jane Stadtmueller in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Pat was the daughter of Joseph and Irene Stadtmueller. She attended Marquette University before transferring to the University of Wisconsin - Madison, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She met her husband, Thomas R. Wildman, through their joint participation behind the scenes in Oshkosh Junior Theatre, a group of college and high school students which produced a musical each summer. The couple married in 1970 and moved to Hartford, Connecticut where Tom began his career practicing law in 1971. After their two children, Todd and Kristin were born Pat decided to return to school. She earned her master’s degree in accounting from the University of Hartford and became a CPA. Pat shifted her focus to nonprofit organizations, first at the Science Museum of Connecticut and later at Duncaster, a Continuing Care Retirement Community where she served as Vice President of Finance and ultimately retired as its Chief Executive Officer. Pat enjoyed an early retirement filled with volunteer work, caring for grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi, summers at the beach, travel, golf, reading, games and hosting friends and family. Pat was frequently tapped by nonprofits to manage their books and served as Treasurer on several boards. Pat and Tom shared a love of adventure and traveled with family and friends to all corners of the world. Pat will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kindness and her mischievous, but never mean spirited, humor coupled with a twinkle in her blue eyes. Nothing was more important to Pat than her family and she loved it when the beach house that she and Tom owned in Quonochontaug, Rhode Island for more than 35 years was full. Pat is survived by Tom, her adoring husband of almost 54 years; their children, Todd Wildman and his wife, Mary-Ellen, of Westford, Massachusetts, and Kristin Wildman Shirahama and her husband, Jun, of Waban, Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Trey Wildman (19), Ander Wildman (15), Connor Shirahama (13), and Olivia Wildman (8). She is also survived by her siblings (and lifelong friends), Joseph Stadtmueller and his wife, Mary Ellen; Carol Stadtmueller; Thomas Stadtmueller and his wife, Marilyn; Mary Gibbons and her husband, Greg: and Gerald Stadtmueller and his wife, Catherine Luther. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ellen Wildman, and her beloved nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts on May 10, at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Pat to: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, for research or for the Meyerson Laboratory, Boston, Massachusetts; the Mass General Cancer Center at Newton Wellesley Hospital, Newton, Massachusetts; or Good Shepherd Community Care, Newton, Massachusetts.
