Obituary for Edward P. Costanzo

Edward “Eddie” Costanzo of Newton Lower Falls, MA died on March 25, after a brief illness. Eddie, also known affectionally as “Cozy” was born on August 27, 1929, to Luigi and Maria Costanzo. Eddie enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served his country as a medic stationed in Tampa and Greenland. Eddie worked for many years with the City of Newton recreation department, where he forged many friendships over the years. Although family was the most important thing to Eddie, he never knew a stranger. A stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet. He loved to dance and was never shy about busting a move to show his stuff. He enjoyed working on his do-it yourself projects at home and looked forward to family gatherings where someone would eventually bring out the cards for a friendly game of poker.

He was predeceased in death by his wife of 58 years, Mildred (Walsh) Costanzo, a son David Costanzo, his sisters Mary (Costanzo) Bradley and Gloria (Costanzo) Proia and is survived by his son, Paul Walsh and his wife Leslie of Sutton MA, Philip Costanzo and his wife Betsy of Wrentham MA and Donald Costanzo of Bow, NH. Grandchildren Andrew Walsh, Tim Costanzo and Liz Costanzo and a great granddaughter, Quinn Walsh.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 10-11:30AM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley followed by interment in Newton Cemetery.
