Edith Ann Seiferth of Wellesley, passed away on November 14, 2023. She was 91 years of age.
Edith, known to her family and friends as Eadie, was born to Orin and Anna Farrell on June 16, 1932. She grew up in Manchester, NH, with her two younger sisters, Polly and Linda. She was a graduate of Emma Willard School and The Boston Conservatory.
Eadie married Colonel George F. Seiferth Jr. of Newtonville, MA, on June 28, 1958. Together, they lived a vibrant life in Manchester, NH, Syracuse, NY, and Plattsburgh, NY. Eadie was widowed in May 2008, when she lost her cherished husband of 50 years to cancer. She moved to Wellesley soon after to be closer to her daughter.
Eadie is survived by her three children: Colonel George F. Seiferth III and his wife Annette of Germany, Paula Kremer of Boston, MA, and William Seiferth and his wife Karen of Columbia, MD. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Rick and Anna Seiferth; Elizabeth, Eadie, and Joey Kremer; and William and James Seiferth.
Eadie was a devout Catholic, a teacher, a soloist, and a performer in theater, opera, and musical comedy. Music was central to her life. Her beautiful soprano voice filled rooms with joy, and her love for performance brought smiles to all. From the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where she performed her undergraduate concert, to the church choir in Plattsburgh, the memory of her singing will remain forever in our hearts.
Most important to Eadie was her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, impeccable taste, and kindness.
A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in Wellesley, MA, followed by interment at Newton Cemetery.
