Obituary for Marcia Reynolds Ward

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marcia Reynolds Ward, who departed this world on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the age of 83. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home, finding comfort in their presence until the very end.

Marcia's journey began with brilliance, excelling as a student and athlete during her formative years. As a teenager, she attended Girls Latin in Boston while residing in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Graduating from Randolph High School with high honors, she furthered her education, earning a Bachelor's degree from State College at Boston and a Master's in Education from Northeastern University. Marcia's commitment to education led her to impart knowledge and wisdom as a devoted teacher for 3rd and 5th-grade students at Lyons Elementary in Milton, MA.

In 1965 Marcia married Stanley Ward. Marcia and Stan raised four sons in West Newton, Massachusetts - Stanley Michael, David Lawrence, Russell Martin, and Richard Carver. Marcia and Stan ultimately celebrated 50 years of marriage together. Marcia is predeceased by her beloved son Russell and husband Stan. Marcia's legacy lives on through her surviving sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Amy of Richmond, Virginia, David & Laura of Palm Springs, Florida, and Stan of Essex Junction, Vermont, as well as her cherished grandsons, Oliver, Scott, and Chris. Additionally, she leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and dear friends.

After dedicating herself to raising her four sons, she returned to teaching, as a Director and Board Member of Plowshares at the Lincoln-Elliot School in Newton, MA. Her commitment to nurturing young minds left a positive impact on countless lives, and she continued this important work until the age of 72.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time and to the wonderful caregivers who went above and beyond to care for Marcia. May Marcia rest in eternal peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and cherished by those who had the honor of being part of her life.
