Obituary for Stanley J. Oldfield

Stanley James Oldfield, age 89, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 26,
2023. Born in Newton, Massachusetts November 10, 1933, to Amos and Ethel Oldfield of Auburndale,
Stan spent most of his childhood in Newton where he was a Catholic Hockey League AII~Star and spent
time throwing curveball pitches on the mound, which were some of his favorite memories he would
recount over the past year. He served in the Air National Guard and retired after a 40~year career starting
with Zayre Corporation and retiring as Vice President of TJX Corporation.

Stan married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Trudo, whom he met at Our Lady Help of Christians
High School in Newton. Stan and Audrey spent most of their married life in Natick, Massachusetts. Stan
spent 6 terms as President of Walpole Country Club, where he loved playing golf. When asked how many
courses he played and which he liked best, he carefully considered and reported he played over 250 golf
courses in 3 different countries during his lifetime. His favorites were Pine Valley, Augusta National, and
The Country Club. He enjoyed telling many stories of golf outings he attended while he was working and
the great fun he had.

Retired life was split between idyllic days spent skiing and playing golf in Waterville Valley, New
Hampshire, and then later settling in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, where he enjoyed playing golf at Lake
Winnipesaukee Golf Club for many years. Known for his humor and straightforward comments, people
everywhere knew Stan and invariably had nice things to say about him. He truly enjoyed living in the
beautiful small town of Wolfeboro. He often said he and Audrey picked great places to spend their time.
After spending many years skiing and golfing in Waterville Valley, then winters golfing in La Quinta,
California, and summers in Wolfeboro, he said he was very lucky.

Stanley leaves Audrey, his wife of 66 years, daughter Cheryl leG rand and her husband Len, son Stanley
Oldfield, Jr. and his wife Beth, his grandchildren who meant so much to him, Taylor Kostopulos and her
husband Nik, Ashton Oldfield, and Sydney Oldfield, and his great-grandson, George Stanley Kostopulos.
In addition, he is survived by his brother-In-law, Arthur Trudo of Newton, along with many nieces and
nephews whose lives were always a part of ours.
