Obituary for Eileen Sullivan

After having received the Sacrament of the Anointing, Eileen H. Sullivan passed peacefully into her Heavenly reward on Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2023, at her residence, North Hill, Needham, MA at the age 101. She was born in Boston on January 11, 1922, to the late Daniel J. and Katherine E. (Kelly) Holland. Eileen was raised in Jamaica Plain and was a longtime resident of Wellesley Hills and South Yarmouth, MA. She was the devoted wife of the late Brian B. Sullivan, mother of the late Gael M. Sullivan and grandmother of Kaileigh A. Brandt.

Eileen’s seven siblings predeceased her: Daniel G. (Newton), Francis J. (Needham and Quincy), Mary A. (Needham), Ann M. (Needham and Wellesley), Rita M. Keefe (Taunton and South Yarmouth), Vincent P. (Conshohocken, PA) and John S. (Bedford, NH and Brewster, MA). She is survived by generations of nieces and nephews.

Eileen’s husband, Brian was a “Double Eagle” graduating from BC High and Boston College. He was President of the Boston College Alumni Association and Eileen enjoyed her role as “First Lady” volunteering for many supporting activities. Eileen was a devout Catholic, attending daily Mass, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at her Parish Church, St. John the Evangelist and volunteering for many other church activities.

A Mass of Christian Burial and a Celebration of Life will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church,
Wellesley Hills, on Tuesday morning, May 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM. The Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home will be assisting in her services and interment at the Holyhood Cemetery, Chestnut Hill, following Mass.
