Obituary for Florence E. Bryson (Gentile)

Florence E. “Flo” Bryson (Gentile) a lifelong resident of Newton, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the age of 87.

Beloved wife of the late Edward Bryson, she is the loving mother of Gail Bryson and her husband George Murray of Medway, Karen Brossi and her husband Wayne of Medway, Edward Bryson Jr. and his wife Kimberley of Medway and Michael Bryson of West Newton. She is survived by cherished grandchildren; Kristin, Jennifer, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Katie, Colin, Amanda, Dawn, Casey, Evelyn and Jenny as well as great grandchildren: Brianna, Hannah, Jayden, Joseph, Faith, Hope and Logan. Daughter of the late Napoleon and Santa (Guzzi) Gentile, Florence was the dear sister of the late Jerome Gentile, Laura Balboni, Theresa Nigro and Evelyn Fraioli.

Family was her greatest joy. Flo enjoyed fun times spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren at their vacation home in New Hampshire, which brought her many years of pleasure.

She loved to travel. After the untimely death of her husband, she continued her travels with the City of Newton to many places including Italy, Ireland, Portugal, and Alaska.

Flo was a graduate of Newton High School who enjoyed knitting, ceramics, and reading. She looked forward to her weekly bowling league and the luncheons that followed with her teammates.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10AM in St. Bernard Parish, 1523 Washington St. West Newton followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, 2-5PM in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St. West Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
