Paul H. Natale of Reading passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born on September 23, 1936, in Cambridge, Paul was the loving son of the late Philip W. Natale and Helen (Maree) Natale. Paul was raised and educated in Cambridge and received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and obtained his MBA from Northeastern University. He remained a fierce and loyal BC Eagle “Superfan” all his life, a season ticket holder, he enjoyed many a game in the torrential downpours or blistering heat at Alumni Stadium or Conte Forum.
Paul was a man whose dry wit and sense of humor knew no bounds. His skill as a raconteur, his hearty laugh, and his warmth were well-known and appreciated by all. He was a man ahead of his time and not above shedding a tear or two in both happiness and sadness. Above all he valued the time he spent with his family, whether it was sharing a hamburger at a backyard barbeque or playing tennis, billiards, racquetball, or a friendly yet competitive game of backyard croquet. He enjoyed singing in his church choir as well as community choirs and was a jazz and big band music aficionado. He was a gentle soul and a loving father, son, brother, husband, and uncle. He will be deeply missed.
Paul was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Katherine Lopez Natale, who passed away on January 3, 2023. He was the loving father of Paul J. Natale and his wife Maria, Jonathan A. Natale and his wife Jill, Elizabeth A. Natale and her wife Tricia Short, Patricia M. Natale and her partner Sabine Schmitt, and Carolyn M. Natale and her husband Neil K. McCafferty. Former husband of Barbara T. Natale of Newton. Brother of John F. Natale and the late Philip W. Natale, Jr. He was the proud grandfather of Sophia, Benjamin, Theodore, Kaden, Laura, Noah, Tyler, and Derek and the beloved uncle of Philip, Mark, Lisa, Lauren, Matthew, Susan, Amy, Christopher, Paula, Rachel, Veronica, Cecilia, Matthew, Christopher, Andrea, Sarah, Michael, Carolyn, Julia, Kristen, Charles, and Jenna. Beloved dog dad of numerous rescue dogs, including Toby, Bugsy, and Harley for whom he frequently snuck rogue tasty tidbits from the table. Brother-in-law of Carol L. Plotkin and her husband Ronald, Dr. Richard J. Lopez, MD and his wife Suzanne, Ronald A. Lopez and his wife Ellen, and Linda E. Castellano and her husband Peter.
