Obituary for Richard Michael Howard

After a long and brave battle of over 13 years, Richard passed away from Early Onset Dementia on November 28, 2022. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Elvera DiSabato Howard, his loving daughter, Colleen, her husband Anthony Shields, adoring grandsons, Alden and Cameron, and his brother, Paul Howard and wife, Anne. Also loved by his sisters-in-law, Teresa DiSabato, Gale Dickau and husband Jack, niece Jennifer Taylor, her husband Adam and great nephews Joshua and Nate.

He will be dearly missed by his many cousins, friends and Wellesley residents whom he helped during his years as a police officer on the Wellesley Police, Babson College, and Dana Hall Police forces. Richie graduated from Wellesley High, Norwich University and served 3 years in the US Army as a lieutenant in Nuremburg, Germany. He was humbly awarded the Trooper Hannah Award for Bravery.

He was a longtime member and club champion at Nehoiden Golf Club, and could usually be found there on the course or at Mobil or Dunkin with his signature smile, telling a story to those he knew and especially those he didn't. Richie's love of life and compassion for others was something special and he will be so incredibly missed.

To help his memory live on, especially for his grandchildren, his family invites all to share their stories at richiehowardstories@gmail.com
Sincerest thanks to the most compassionate caregivers at the Bedford VA, Unit 62A.
