Obituary for William J. Riley
William J. Riley, a lifelong resident of Newton, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Catherine “Kitty” (Daly) and loving father of Maureen B. Riley of Hull, Patricia A. Boyle and her husband Charles of Stow, Margaret A. McDonald and her husband David of Watertown, William J. Riley, Jr. and his partner Dawn Stapleton of Charlestown, and James P. Riley of Newton Highlands. Dear brother of Paul F. Hagerty of Waban and the late Thomas Riley and Miriam Gowaski. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Brendan, Caitlin Rose, Brenna, Bridget, Jimmy and Brian.
Mr. Riley was a proud veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Local 12 Plumbers Union and a faithful Red Sox fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, October 12th at 10:30AM in Sacred Heart Parish, 1321 Centre St., Newton Centre followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 4-7PM at the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley.
