Obituary for Vivianne J. Norris

Vivianne Perron Norris (Viv), age 77, died peacefully on July 4, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Her Smile Always Lit Up the Room

She was born in Holyoke, MA on September 7, 1944, daughter to Leopold Perron and Germaine Turcotte Perron. She graduated from Holyoke High School in 1962 and became a licensed Registered Nurse in 1966 upon graduating from the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing.

Viv, affectionately known as “Nurse Norris” by the children she cared for, worked for many years in the school system assisting special needs children and as school nurse in Liverpool, NY. She was also active in the community and led numerous programs to include chairing the Christmas Sharing Program for underprivileged
kids over several years. Upon moving to Birmingham, Alabama, Viv’s focus shifted to serving her new church, St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, and the community. She was always the first to volunteer with helping others wherever and whenever needed to include supporting the Battered Women’s Shelter, the Bereavement Ministry, Christmas Sharing Program, and decorations for the holidays. She truly had a servant’s heart.

Viv loved to travel with family and friends but mostly looked forward to her family’s annual trip to Ocean Isle Beach, NC; a 16-year tradition with her children and grandchildren. Joy came from creating memories with the family, regardless of the location.

Viv was undoubtedly the most kind, compassionate and selfless wife, mother, “grandmama”, sister and friend. She was truly loved by all that had the honor of knowing her. Although she will be missed tremendously, her family knows she is carrying on with her generosity in heaven as she did while with us.

Viv is survived by her husband John Norris (Jack), children David and wife Karin, Scott and wife Brigitte, Nicole and husband Mike, grandchildren Emma, Colin, Jessica, Devin, Vivianne, Mackenzie, Benjamin and James, as well as her sister Claudette Bernier and nieces.

There will be a service celebrating Vivianne’s life on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 10am at Corpus Christi - St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in West Newton, MA (1523 Washington St, West Newton, MA 02465). Family will receive family and friends from 9am – 10am prior to the funeral mass.
