Obituary for Dorothy Goguen (Carman)

Dorothy Goguen (Carman), a lifelong resident of Wellesley, died Monday, January 31, 2022 at the age of 103. Born in Wellesley to the late Walter and Delia Carman, she was the beloved wife of the late Frederick J. "Buster" Goguen Jr. and loving mother of Robert F. Goguen and his late wife Claire of Portsmouth, VA; David W. Goguen and wife Andrea of Hadley, MA; Nancy G. Eich of Bellingham, MA; The late Ronald G. Goguen and his late wife Kathryn; And the late Richard C. Goguen. Also survived by grandchildren Kathryn, Christopher F, Stephanie, Cheryl, Christopher T, and Elizabeth, as well as her great-grand children Elijah, Gavin, Fiona, Mia, and Dylan. Dear sister of the late Gertrude Owens, Walter Carman Jr., Eileen Marso, Rita Weaver, John Carman and Joseph Carman.

Dorothy graduated from Wellesley High School in 1936 and was voted "Most Athletic Girl" of her class. She graduated from Regis College in 1941 and later attended Boston State College and Framingham State College to receive a teaching certification. She first taught 3rd grade at Immaculate Conception School in Marlborough before teaching at St. John's School in Wellesley from 1965 to 1982. She married the love of her life in 1944. Dorothy loved traveling and one of the highlights of her life was a cross-country camping trip with her family. After retirement she and Buster enjoyed summers with family and friends on Bear Pond in Maine and vacationing in Florida. Dorothy and Buster spent 73 wonderful years together until his passing in 2017.
