George William Kidd, Jr. of Wellesley, passed away at UMass Medical Center on November 26, 2021, after an extended period of illness. George was born on June 16, 1957, in Brighton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Wellesley High School in 1976, and shortly thereafter served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps., where he completed basic training at Paris Island. Thereafter, he worked for his father in the family landscaping business.

George loved camping and the outdoors and was active and successful in the Boy Scouts during his youth. He was gifted as a talented artist who loved to sketch and paint. He also loved history, particularly the period of World War II, and would vividly recount stories about its famous battles and generals. George had a passion for the music of Steely Dan, and in his booming voice could sing and recite the lyrics of virtually every Steely Dan song to anyone who would listen. A man of large stature (he was 6”3 and over 250lbs.), George was known as a gregarious, kind-hearted, magnanimous soul who easily made friends with people from all walks of life. He lived in the Nonatum section of Newton for several years and was known to take frequent walks in that neighborhood, a colorful, charismatic character who would strike up conversations with all who crossed his path.
