Arthur John Talis born June 16, 1927, and died under hospice care, October 30, 2021 surrounded by family. Born in Boston, MA to John and Rodoklea (Kontos) Talis, he graduated from B.U, served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Puget Sound in the Pacific during WWII, and had a long career working for the Internal Revenue Service. He was an active member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newton and volunteered for St. Francis House. Art was a proud Mason.

Married for 67 years to Marianne Elisabeth Talis, father to Martha Talis-Floyd (Richard), Andrea Talis (Matthew Temple, previous partner Daniel Hamlin), Elisabeth Talis, John Talis (Annette O’Connor); grandfather to Andrew Floyd (Jessica Schultz), Rebecca Floyd Marshall (Alexander), Isaac Hamlin. Miriam Talis, and Caroline Talis; great grandfather to Bridget and Gideon Floyd, and Simon and Luke Floyd Marshall.

Arthur is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Also his brother Michael Talis and sister Thekla Wolfson. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers George (Lois), James (Adele) and Earnest Talis.

A service in celebration of Arthur’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1135 Walnut St. Newton Highlands, MA at 11AM, Saturday, November 6, 2021. Services will be live streamed. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to your favorite charity
