Obituary for Paul David Moore

Paul David Moore, of Newton and Belmont, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the age of 70. Beloved son of the late John W. and Nicolina (Tricomi) Moore. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Kroncke and daughter Susan Dehart, his cherished granddaughter Lucy DeHart, as well as his dear brother Jack Moore and his wife Maryann.

Paul was a family man and friend to many. To his family, he was their foundation and their anchor. Paul was always stoic in his never-ending support, comfort and encouragement to his family no matter what issue they faced. Anyone who knows anything about Paul also knows his intense love for his animals, especially for his most recent pups, Boomer and Abba. While Paul’s health declined, the love and joy he gave and received from his pups provided him with courage and peace. Paul appreciated everyone and everything he had in life. His friends would say he was there for anything they needed over the years. Paul could be seen many an evening with his friends discussing different ways to handle a variety of legal issues or poring over personal matters with a beer at Brandy Pete’s in Boston’s financial district.

Paul practiced law for over 40 years, and for the last 22 years at the law firm Duane Morris. Paul's resume is impressive. Paul was a double Eagle, graduating from Boston College in 1973, with a bachelor of science in finance, summa cum laude and Boston College Law School in 1976, cum laude and as a member of the law review. A little known fact about Paul is that he had the highest score on the July 1976 bar exam. Always understated about his intellect, he battled fiercely for his clients using the sword of the law he endlessly studied. Paul is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and is a member of many legal professional associations and institutions. He was continually recognized as a leader in his field by several elite organizations. Paul was a lover of the law and was considered a brilliant lawyer who invested everything he had, both intellectually and emotionally, in every legal matter he touched. It was not just about his hard work. Paul insisted on setting the highest standards for himself because he truly believed that doing hard work and good work was a sign of respect for oneself. In fact, nothing compared to how fulfilled he would feel knowing he did a great job and accomplished the right outcome. In addition, to his own high standards, Paul made sure that the young lawyers he worked with understood the importance of doing the job right. He mentored many a young lawyer who will say today that they are better because of Paul's not so subtle input on how to do a better job.

Paul was genuinely loved by all who were fortunate to have crossed his path and he will be greatly missed.
