Margaret (Maguire) Mazzola of Newton passed away peacefully on Monday, July 19 with her sisters at her bedside. She is predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Mazzola, her parents, Frederick and Margaret (Lavelle) Maguire, her brother, Frederick Maguire and sister-in-law Ann Stenson. She is survived by her siblings Mary (Maguire) DeMaio of Newton, wife of the late Joseph B. DeMaio, Patricia (Maguire) Carrafiello and her husband Michael Carrafiello of Waltham, John Maguire and his wife Maryellen (Norton) Maguire of Framingham, her brother-in-law Gerard Mazzola and his wife Nancy of Framingham and her sisters-in-law Janet (Halliday) Maguire of Tewksbury and Joan (Mazzola) Jauss of Bedford.

Margaret was employed at Barnes and Jones for many years. She was a faithful practicing Catholic at St. Bernard's Church. I have so many great memories of my Auntie Margo, she was a huge part of my life. My most recent funny memory of her is her struggle with her new cell phone, she was determined to learn how to use it and would not be going back to her old one (even if it would be easier) so she came over one morning and we sat and watched YouTube videos and I taught her a few things. I have many saved voicemails from her calling me by accident and leaving me a message to just call her back on the house. I’ll miss her visits, thoughtful gifts, cards and just talking to her on the phone. I’m so thankful for that one last dinner with her at Shopper’s. She will be missed very much

We are so blessed to have known Margaret for forty years, twenty of which were as next-door neighbors. Margaret could not have been more kind or generous. She ALWAYS thought of others first. Whenever we would speak on the phone to find out how she was doing, her focus would turn to her family members. Often we would tease her to send us a copy of her family tree, just so we could follow along! She so loved her family, and we were comforted knowing she was always being looked after by them.
Margaret’s living room was perpetually filled with family photos and gifts ready to be given away to someone. She even achieved “premium tier status” with the US Post Office with the number of greeting cards she mailed. During the recent spell of hot weather, she told us she was tying a bottle of cool water around her stair handrail for her favorite mail carrier! Just a simple gesture which proved her generosity to all.
We feel so blessed and honored to have known such a wonderful friend. May her family be comforted knowing how much she was loved by others. Margaret will truly be missed.
Blessings to all,
Carol and Richard Crane
