Obituary for Edward Bernard Shaw Jr.

Edward B. Shaw Jr. of Waban, originally from Malden, passed away April 7, 2021. Beloved son of the late Edward B. and Isabelle (Scott) Shaw and loving brother of Emily Boisselle and her husband Ronald and Judith Shaw Harvey. Father of Edward B. Shaw III and Dorothy D’Angelo and her husband Joseph. Grandfather of Sheila Kisiel and her husband Daniel. Ed is also survived by his longtime beloved companion Ruth Tomasian and longtime loving friends and housemates Mary Ann Tricaricao and her husband Peter Donnolly.

Ed served in the US Army in the 1950’s as an Official Army Photographer. After completing his service, he graduated from Boston University. Ed began his career in film production at WBZ where his projects included television commercials and documentaries. Combining their film and video tape skills, Ed and three colleagues formed T R Productions.

Ed had a keen interest in medical issues, which sparked a long career in administrative roles within the Epilepsy Foundation and the Neurology Department of the Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center. He retired from a faculty appointment at Boston University School of Medicine.

His love of travel and photography took him to many locations. He greatly enjoyed his years with the Photographic Historical Society of New England.

His friends and family would like to thank the staff and employees on Unit 2C, third floor Hospice Care at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford MA for their care, support and kindness provided to Ed.

Visiting hours will be held at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St. West Newton Friday, April 9, 2021 form 2-4PM. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to the Photographic Historical Society of New England at PHSNE, 47 Calvary St Waltham, MA 02453 or at PHSNE.org
