Obituary for Elsie Whitehead

Elsie Whitehead, a longtime resident of Waltham, died April 6, 2020 at the age of 99. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jenny (Anderson) Larson. She is survived by her beloved husband and tireless caregiver Richard Whitehead. Dedicated to their faith, the couple greatly enjoyed their weekly meetings at the Kingdom Hall, Circuit Assemblies (twice yearly), and annual Regional Convention. Through her failing health, Elsie never lost her joy, happiness, love for Jehovah, his worldwide organization’ and her dear husband who shares the following reflection:

My dear Elsie was like a diamond that was shining with all its beauty and love. Elsie was born and brought up in the truth by loving parents that taught her to love Jehovah with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She was baptized as one of Jehovah Witnesses and lived her entire life as a dedicated witness to our great God, Jehovah. Elsie was the most kind, loving, compassionate, humble and empathetic woman that I had ever met. I had the most wonderful 39 years of being married to her before she fell asleep in death.
I miss my Elsie so much that I begin to tear up when I think about all the fun times we shared together.
She was my loving wife, helper and complement to me. We became one flesh together as husband and wife enjoying each other all of the time and enjoying Jehovah’s creative works, His worldwide Organization, and His promise of endless enjoyable life with the exquisite delight in the abundance of peace on a paradise earth forever (Psalm 37:11, 29). What a wonderful promise that we believed and shared together throughout our entire married life.
Elsie gave of herself all of the time. She was always there when friends needed help and advice. She always directed them to God’s Word, the bible for comfort and understanding. Elsie was always willing and able to give of her time. As Acts 20:35 says...”there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.” She practiced this throughout her entire life.
Elsie, my love for you will be forever, and ever. I looked forward to that time when you will stand up (resurrected) to enjoy Jehovah’s rulership and endless enjoyable life with the exquisite delight in the abundance of peace on a paradise earth forever. You are indeed a shining diamond with all your beauty and love.
