Obituary for Joan Marie Armstrong Rothney

Joan Marie Armstrong Rothney of Wellesley Hills, MA, formerly of Sherborn, MA died January 15, 2019 at the age of 88 following her valiant determination to lead a full life despite her complex heart disease. Joan passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loving family along with wonderful hospice and caregiver support. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the adoring mother of Lynne M. Rothney-Kozlak and her husband, Paul J. Kozlak of Litchfield, ME, Bruce W. Rothney of West Boylston, MA, Marc T. Rothney of Boulder, CO and the late Andrew A. Rothney of Webster, MA. She is also survived by three granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Daughter of the late Ronald W. Armstrong and Marie E. (Dow) Armstrong Corbet of London, Ontario, she is recently predeceased by her brother Ronald D. Armstrong, MD of Etobicoke, Ontario and her last beloved furry companion, E-Z Brook’s Miss Phoebe (Corgi). Joan is fondly remembered by dear friends, including those she went to school with in Canada, neighbors at Woodhaven Elder Housing in Sherborn and Waterstone at Wellesley, members of the Boggestow Garden Club of Sherborn and the Sherborn Book Group, and fellow clinical social workers she worked with during her long and fulfilling career. Joan will be interred with her brother at Pine Hill Cemetery in Sherborn and a memorial service will be planned for the spring.
