Obituary

Joan Marie Armstrong Rothney of Wellesley Hills, MA, formerly of Sherborn, MA died January 15, 2019 at the age of 88 following her valiant determination to lead a full life despite her complex heart disease. Joan passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loving family along with wonderful hospice and caregiver support. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the adoring mother of Lynne M. Rothney-Kozlak and her husband, Paul J. Kozlak of Litchfield, ME, Bruce W. Rothney of West Boylston, MA, Marc T. Rothney of Boulder, CO and the late Andrew A. Rothney of Webster, MA. She is also survived by three granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Daughter of the late Ronald W. Armstrong and Marie E. (Dow) Armstrong Corbet of London, Ontario, she is recently predeceased by her brother Ronald D. Armstrong, MD of Etobicoke, Ontario and her last beloved furry companion, E-Z Brook’s Miss Phoebe (Corgi). Joan is fondly remembered by dear friends, including those she went to school with in Canada, neighbors at Woodhaven Elder Housing in Sherborn and Waterstone at Wellesley, members of the Boggestow Garden Club of Sherborn and the Sherborn Book Group, and fellow clinical social workers she worked with during her long and fulfilling career. Joan will be interred with her brother at Pine Hill Cemetery in Sherborn and a memorial service will be planned for the spring. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to NEADY Cats (dba Cats in Need), PO Box 213, West Boylston, MA 01583 or at www.NeadyCats.org.

A great Lady, who btw, bought her son-in-law’s ex-racing car to use as her daily driver! Courage and speed!

Lynne, Bruce, Marc and Family,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved Mom. My heart goes out to you all - I send my sincere sympathy and condolences. Even though you might know what is near, it is never easy to lose a parent. It is reassuring to know she is now at peace, with those she loved that have gone before her, whether on 2 legs or 4. My first memory was of her awesome grunchy granola! She was always warm, fun and sincere when we crossed paths. I will pray for you all. What a beautiful photo - that smile and those eyes say it all. Much love,
Liza Helman Kraft

And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4
