Obituary for Jeffrey S. Sauer

Jeffrey Steven Sauer 57 years old from Auburndale Massachusetts passed away on Monday afternoon, 30 April 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Jeff was born on September 30, 1960 in Syracuse, New York to Norman J. and Alice (Hodgson) Sauer. He is survived by his wife Jennifer North; his mother Alice, a sister JoAnn (Robert) Kirk; three brothers Norm (Eileen) Sauer, Jr., Marty (Sandy) Sauer and Randy (Carol) Sauer; and his dog Bernie. He is preceded in death by his father Norman Sr. Jeff also leaves behind 8 nieces and nephews and 16 grand-nieces and nephews.
Jeff graduated from North Carolina State University in 1985 with a degree in Zoology. He began his 30- year career in the Boston area with Corning Life Sciences in 1988 where he earned the title of Business Director.
Jeff was passionate about so many things. Whether for work or just enjoyment he loved to travel, and he did travel many times to Asia, Europe, Central and South America and Alaska. He loved playing his guitar(s), birding, flying a plane, but most of all in the last decades of his short life he loved to fish. Whether he was on Jen’s lake, Lake Winnipesaukee, or Squam Lake in New Hampshire or the Pere Marquette River in Michigan or the many rivers he fished in Alaska, Jeff seemed happiest when he was playing and landing a fish.
We who knew Jeff were touched by a compassionate, caring man with a magnetic smile, a great sense of humor and endearing interest in all things around him. He will be sorely missed by his family, his friends, Bernie (who is technically not a person) and the rest of the pack.
Please consider a donation to the Jimmy Fund in Boston in Jeff’s honor.
