GOGUEN, Frederick J. "Buster" Jr. of Wellesley, died July 23, 2017 at the age of 96. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Carman) and loving father of Robert F. Goguen and wife Claire of Portsmouth, VA; David W. Goguen and wife Andrea of Hadley, MA; Nancy G. Eich of Waltham, MA; and the late Ronald G. and Richard C. Goguen. Also survived by his grandchildren Kathryn, Christopher, Elizabeth. Stephanie, Christopher and Cheryl as well as two great-grandsons Elijah and Gavin. Predeceased by his sisters Doris Bates, Rita Connolly and Janita Allen.
Mr. Goguen was born in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School where he was a star athlete and a member of the Waltham High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He worked as a Forman for the W.H. Nichols Company in Waltham until his retirement in 1983. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Carman in 1944, and the couple settled in Wellesley where they have remained for the last 73 years. Mr. Goguen loved spending his summers at the family home on Bear Pond in Maine and vacationing in Florida. A lifelong athlete, he remained active playing softball in local leagues and as an avid golfer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, July 26th at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd. Wellesley followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-7PM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Goguen’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at Cancer.org, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at NationalMSSociety.org
