Kathleen Anne Sperrazza (Nee O’Hearn), 64 of Wellesley passed peacefully on Tuesday August 7th , 2018,
surrounded by family and friends. Kathy is survived by her husband Steven Sperrrazza, daughter Alyssa Sperrazza-Cupac, her husband Kevin Cupac, and her beloved grandson Hunter (Boo). Daughter of late Bonnie and Francis M. O’Hearn of Malden. Dear sister to Mike(Juhee) O’Hearn, Ann (David ) Artone, Liz O’Hearn, Rose Foley, Mary Fitzgerald and Joseph O’Hearn and sister in law of, Francesa (late Michael) King, Geri Sperrazza (Frank Minnock). Also Survived by many nieces, nephews and a vast circle of friends.
Kathy was born on August 17th , 1953 in Boston, Massachusetts. Kathy Started her nursing career as a BSN graduate from Northeastern University and worked for 20 years at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital ending in the coronary care unit. During this time, she served as chairperson of MNA representing the nurses. In addition to general labor relations, she became increasingly interested in work place safety, collaborating with NIOSH & OSHA to improve working conditions for all nurses. Her passion for the safety of the workers lead her to enrolling in a Doctor of Science program in Epidemiology and work place environment. She ended her long illustrious career as a hospice nurse. As amazing as all of her contributions in labor and nursing, Kathy’s gift was her love and generosity to family, friends and anyone who needed help or guidance.
Visitation will be held at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St. West Newton, MA
On Friday August 10th from 4pm until 7 pm. A celebration of her life will be held on August 11th. Details will be made available. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's memory may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at phassociation.org
