Obituary for Elaine J. Pettit (Chasse)

PETTIT, Elaine J., Of Newton Lower Falls on October 24. She leaves her husband of 44 years, Mark, three sons, Eric and his wife Teri Stein of Los Angeles, CA, Andrew and his significant other Stefani Stough of Waltham, MA, and Timothy and his wife Jennifer Pettit of Waltham, MA, her sister, Theresa Coupland of Peterborough, NH, and her beloved grandchildren, Lucy, Max, Calvin, and Troy. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was born and raised in Waterbury, CT, by her late parents Rene and Lorina (Potvin) Chasse. She lived in Newton Lower Falls for 38 years where she has many dear friends and neighbors. She had a warm and wonderful personality that touched all those around her. She began her career as a nurse, and she later became a family day care provider. She was very active in the Newton public school system, serving as president of the Williams School PTO and the Newton North High School PTO. She also was an active volunteer for several years with the Friends of the Newton Free Library. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend visiting hours in the Burke and Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington Street, West Newton, on Sunday, October 29, 2-5 p.m. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held in the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Center, on Monday, October 30, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
