Cronin, Walter E., of West Newton, born May 15, 1948, died at home from pancreatic cancer on September 10, 2017, surrounded in the love of his family. Beloved son of Kathleen M. Cronin of West Newton and the late Eugene A. Cronin. Dear brother of Mary McCaul of Brockton, Anne Cronin of Martha's Vineyard, John of West Chesterfield, NH, Michael of Santa Ana, CA, Eileen Clare of Norwell and the late Joseph Cronin. Uncle of Justin Cronin, Jonathan Clare, Meredith McCaul, Amelia McCaul and Jessica Cronin and great uncle of Emma Jenkins, Rose Jenkins and Grace Jenkins. Also survived by many cousins and friends. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Walter was a retired insurance broker. A consultant to many and a friend to the West Newton community, he operated his agency for over four decades. A designated Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPUC), he was also a Massachusetts Licensed Insurance Advisor. Funeral from the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., (Rte. 16), West Newton followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bernard Church, West Newton, Thursday, September 14 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday evening from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
