Obituary for Mina Flanagan

Mina J. Flanagan was born Filomena Miraglia to John and Josephine Miraglia of North Bergen, New Jersey, on October 6, 1921. Mina married Wesley V. Flanagan in 1947 and raised their family of four boys in Cliffside Park, New Milford, and Parsippany, New Jersey. In 1989, they retired to Cocoa Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed a lively social life that included golf, cards, dancing, swimming and travel. In 2013, Mina moved to Newton, Massachusetts, to be close to her family.

Mina was predeceased by her parents, brother Salvatore, and beloved husband Wesley Flanagan. She is survived by her four sons and their spouses: David (& Barbara), Jim (& Linda), John (& Aileen), and Mark (& Carol); and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Lepore, of New Jersey and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mina loved her family times, swimming, movies, Edy’s Ice Cream and golfing. She often shared stories of her eventful life, such as opening day of the George Washington Bridgein 1931, when she was among the jubilant crowd who were first to walk across from New Jersey to New York.

A funeral mass for Mina will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, on April 10, 2017 at 10am.
