Henderson, Daniel V. “Danny” , Jr., age 74, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Newton and Las Vegas, passed away Friday, March 24 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel V. Henderson, Sr. and Martha (McLeod) Henderson. Danny leaves the love of his life Edwardine “Eddie” (Caples) Henderson of 55 years. He was the loving and adored father of Denise Henderson; Margaret “Peggy” McNair and her husband Steve; Dani Lyn Henderson and her husband Michael Cohen; Daniel Henderson III and his fiancée Laura Cole; and Sheri Nelson and her husband Bill. He was the adored papa to Charles “Chuck” Henderson, Corey and Kevin McNair, Alexandra and Peyton Cohen, Liam, Danny and Jane Nelson and great grandson Logan Henderson. He was the loving brother of Frances Swales and Joan Estes and he was predeceased by his sister Janice Wilson. He was born and raised in Chelsea and he was a 1959 graduate of Chelsea High School. He then joined the United States Marine Corp in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. From 1963 until 2005, Danny was a machinist and night supervisor at W. H. Nichols/Parker Hannifin Corporation in Waltham and Devens, Massachusetts. He and his wife then retired to Las Vegas in 2005 and after 10 years moved back to Massachusetts. Danny was an avid golfer. He also loved watching the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. Visiting hours in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., (Rte 16), West Newton, Tuesday evening, March 28 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Family and friends will gather in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton, Wednesday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 , followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial Private. Remembrances may be made in Dan's memory to The Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
