Obituary for Thomas F. "Tucker" Walsh

Thomas F. "Tucker" Walsh
Thomas F. “Tucker” Walsh of Scituate, formerly of Wellesley, died Friday, March 10, 2017. He is the beloved son of the late Norinne Feeny and E. Corbett Walsh, loving brother of Bonnie Stoloski and her husband Bill of Cumberland Foreside, Maine, Robo Walsh of Norwood, Quentin Walsh and his wife Randi of Wellesley, Toni Curry and her husband Brian of Pinehills, Plymouth and his caretakers, his favorite sibling Inez Moore and her husband Tom of Scituate. Thomas was predeceased by his oldest brother, Rev. E. Corbett Walsh, S.J.
Thomas was born with special needs. He was educated, trained and raised by an entire village, especially his loving friends at the Wellesley Fire Department, Woodland Golf Club, his co-workers of 40 years at Boston College, and many friends from Hull, Wellesley, Scituate, Martha’s Vineyard, El Paso, TX, and Vero Beach and Juno Beach, FL . He will be missed by his flock of Gahan, Feeny and Hern cousins, and by the tribe of nieces and nephews, especially his 28 noisy grand nieces and nephews who invaded his space every summer.
Tucker was a gift to many. He loved music, dancing , BC Hockey and Lacrosse, and a good party, especially if the celebration was in his honor. In 2015, Tucker was named BC Football Season Ticket Holder of the Year. When his nephew Timothy was at Boston College ’99, he nominated his uncle to become a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, to which he was accepted. Timothy presented his uncle with the award and Tucker’s family and friends had a party! Tucker’s retirement from Boston College after 40 years was a cause for several celebrations. His friends at BC presented him with a BC armchair, and head hockey coach, Jerry York, presented him with an autographed National Championship hat. His firehouse friends honored Tucker with the traditional golden axe, a prized possession that was prominently displayed in his bedroom. Tucker’s 70th birthday bash was also another special party attended by a host of firemen, police, priests, family and friends. He was a blessing to many. He will be sorely missed but the stories about Tucker will keep his memory alive.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, March 20th at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd. Wellesley. Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 19th from 4 to 8 PM at the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Volunteer and Service Learning Center at Boston College, 140 Commonwealth Ave, Chestnut Hill, 02467, c/o Daniel Ponsetto.
