Obituary for Edie Cassoli

Edith (Cella) Cassoli, a long-time resident of Wellesley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22nd, at the age of 99.
She was the loving wife of the late Carlo Cassoli and is survived by three of their five children, Linda Thurston and her husband David of Halifax, Peter and his wife Laurie of Greenwich, CT, Chuck and his wife Carol of Norfolk. Her daughters, Jean Ivers and Elaine Miscia predeceased her in 1999 and 2007, respectively. She was the grandmother of twelve - David, Christine, Marie, Elizabeth, Emily, Anthony, Michael, Matthew, Charlie, Teddy, Jenna and Greg. Great-grandmother to Kailee, Daniel and Cassandra. She also leaves her sister-in-law Jean Cella of Holliston. She was Auntie Edie to several nieces and nephews. Edie is the daughter of Mary and Egidio Cella, and sister of Dorothy Linnehan and Albert Cella, all who passed before her.
Edie was all about family; she loved family gatherings and enjoyed summer vacations on the Cape. She was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Church and St. James the Great Church, an active member of the St. James Women’s Guild for many years, a Girl Scout Leader, she loved bowling at Fairway -well into her nineties- and playing cards with her Woodland’s neighborhood ladies for over 60 years. She was a kind, gentle and generous woman who cherished being surrounded by her family and friends.
Edie will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 27 at 10AM in St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington St. Wellesley, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-5PM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley Hills.
