William L. McGrath, Jr. of Wellesley Hills, member of ASID, died of cancer at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston Monday, November 21, 2016 at the age of 87. Born in Detroit, MI, he was raised and educated in Beachmont, MA. A graduate of Vesper George School of Art in Boston, he earned a degree in Historic Restoration and Interior Design. He interned in New York before serving in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. McGrath worked at Fallona Interiors of Brookline before opening his own firm in Brookline and later worked from his home office in Wellesley Hills. Among his clients were Attorney F. Lee Bailey, TV Personality Janet Langhart Cohen, the offices of Governor Michael Dukakis, Gore Place in Waltham and the Trinity Church in Copley Square. Predeceased by his father, William L. McGrath, Sr.; mother, Beatrice Boudreau McGrath; and brother Gerald McGrath. He is survived by cousins Marie Burke Rahall of Concord, MA; Elizabeth Burke Smithwa of Mission Viejo, CA; Donald Johnson of Yarmouth, MA; and Mark, Philip, Robert and Ann Boudreau of Hyannis, MA. Also survived by longtime friends Phillippe Bordes of Bordeaux, France and James P. Lawrence of Boston. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 10AM-12PM at the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley Hills. Burial will be private.
